Easy and Fun Pizza Mummy How To

$

These little guys are so much fun and so yummy!  They are so easy,  a 4 year can make them!

Here is what you need:

English Muffins

Pizza Sauce

Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Sliced Black Olives

Before you let the kiddo’s start building their pizza mummies, you need to prepare a few things.  I separated the muffins, emptied the sliced black olives into a bowl and pulled apart the cheese sticks into strips.  Alice actually helped me pull the cheese apart.

Then, I set up the area and let her go.

First she spooned the sauce onto the English muffins. (tip-Buy the muffins without “nooks and crannies”. It makes spreading the sauce a bit tricky!)

After she spread on the pizza sauce, she placed the sliced olives for eyes. Then she placed the sections of cheese across the face.  EASY!

See how proud she is!?!  She made our dinner.  So, our Pizza Mummies ended up being a nice lesson in Preschooler Confidence Building!

For this one, I told her to say “TA DA!!” Cute, eh?

Have you made Pizza Mummies before?  What fun Halloween recipes do you know?  I would love for you to share them in the comments below.

We also have a FUN Halloween Sweets and Treats link party where you can share all your Halloween recipes!

Halloween Rewind: My Sentimental Halloween Wreath

I LOVE this wreath.  I have it hanging up right now.  I just haven’t gotten around to loading up the pictures of my recent Halloween decor.  So I thought, “ah-HA! I’ll have a Halloween rewind post”  Seriously though, this wreath is just too cute not to share again!  I know all of my pictures below are watermarked with the old blog name. Eh….that’s OK, right?

I made Alice this cute Halloween tutu when she was two years old

*sigh* OH, my cute lil girl!!  It’s also the FIRST tutu I ever made and her first tutu!!  Obviously, it doesn’t fit any longer.  So I came up with a way to SAVE it.  I made a Halloween Wreath out of it. Now we will always have that first lil tutu!
It was really easy, too!  I just took off all the little strips. Which, if you follow 90% of the tutu tutorials out there, the strips will just slide off and open once you cut the elastic.  Then I used this wreath form.

I realized I was going to have to cover the wreath with something.

I didn’t have any burlap.  I didn’t have any fabric or ribbon that I wanted to hide under tulle.  So, I tore strips of orange tissue paper and glued it to the wreath. Hey, it worked!

Then I tied the tulle strips on the wreath.  Then, I added an orange ribbon and made an orange moon and black bat out of some left over paint chip samples and glued that onto the wreath.  I pushed each knot just to the back side of the wreath and that is what created the wrapped look.

SO CUTE RIGHT??  I love it!

I love Halloween! I love green but most of all I LOVE avocados. I absolutely love them and I am always finding ways to add them to recipes. They are rich, creamy and taste delicious.  When I saw that Avocados from Mexico was sponsoring a fun Halloween contest I was immediately interested. First, MORE delicious avocado recipes and second, a chance to win a $100 gift card!

The Pin to Win contest has us doing what we all love to do everyday anyways….PINNING!!

Easy and Inexpensive Kids Halloween Party Tips

$

I wanted to share a few easy and inexpensive ideas and tips for throwing a Kids Halloween Party.  Kids LOVE Halloween and it’s nice to know you don’t have to spend a fortune to put together a fun party for them.  I love the idea of having a Halloween party for our kids.  It’s a safe place for them to have some good ole Halloween fun.  We are in charge of what they eat, drink see. We control the scary.  When you throw a party for them on Halloween you and the other parents can choose to take the whole group at Trick or Treating which is much safer.  Safety in numbers, right? You can even take them early, then once it’s dark and the bigger kids and the bigger scaries are out, your little ones wont be upset about the festivities ending because you still have a party for them!

I’m going to share some of my own tips and ideas that I used and put together for our Kids Halloween Party!

This is the Halloween decor party wall and food table for our party.  The wreath I made last season from Alie’s first Momma-made tutu, the garland I made from paint chip samples last year. The streamers, hanging decor, white ghost sign, bowls and cupcake stand all came from Dollar Tree.  The Halloween banner around the black poster boards I found on sale at Target for $1.50! Black poster board is from Walmart.

Hanging ghost and scare crow are from the dollar store, paper fan wheel collage I made from a scrapbook paper pack I found at Target’s Dollar Spot. Hanging pumpkins and green chandelier are from Dollar Tree. Cupcake stand is from Dollar Tree and the cupcake wrappers I found at Kroger.

kids halloween party

See how cute that cupcake stand is!? I can’t believe it’s just a $1, and they had many more styles to choose from. Here are some more inexpensive items I found for our party.  Halloween bingo game and glitter Halloween temporary tattoos are from Walmart.  The hanging skeleton and glow in the dark purple skeleton are from Dollar Tree. The mummy and the Disney Halloween paint set are also from Dollar Tree.  The cute Halloween cello bags and groovy straws are from Target’s Dollar Spot. The Disney Halloween themed books I found from the Target Dollar Spot, too.  Simple and fun things to add to any Kids Halloween Party.

For our Halloween cupcakes I used Wilton’s Icing Colors pack. I made marbled black and orange cupcakes and topped them with orange, black and green tinted icing. I found a Halloween sprinkle pack at Walmart for under $4! The orange pumpkin plate is from Dollar Tree.

At Dollar Tree you can find lots of fun Halloween party activities for the kids.  I got Alice (sweetie holding up her frame) and her cousins, Angie and April a craft pack of Halloween magnet frames and Halloween masks to make.  There are also coloring books and painting sets.

At the top you can see their Halloween frames and masks they had fun making. We also had fun making ghosts from paper plates and strips of paper.  I love how April made a full figured ghost and Angie made the volley ball for the mummy to hold!!  For the paper plate ghost project it’s best to actually buy paper plates. I bought styrofoam plates, they were really hard to paint!  You will also want to buy white paper streamers.  I had bought white streamers but it’s going missing and still has not been found! SPOOKY! lol

I have another tip for saving money on holiday parties.  Buy AFTER the holiday or season! I found ALL of this last year a week after Halloween at Walgreen’s for 75% off!  I was like Christmas morning when I opened up the box of Halloween decor this year and said out loud, “OH YEA….remember we bought all this last year!”  I had forgotten, made for a nice surprise.

kids halloween party

We also bought Alice a couple costumes that were marked down 50% off, including this Bumble Bee costume. She loves Bumble Bee.  You could buy your costumes from the next year at the after Halloween sales, too!

kids halloween party

I made these Halloween cupcake toppers or party garland circles for y’all too!  The are free for you to download and print. :)

Alice and I also made these cute Halloween Pizza Mummy’s!

Here are some more inexpensive Halloween party and decor ideas…

Halloween Party Cheese Balls Jack o Lantern from Dollar Store Crafts, Ghost Smoothies from Lissables Creations, TP Creepy Eye trick from Prankked,

Spirit Jugs from Family Fun, Jack o Lantern Balloons from Martha Stewart

How about some awesome more Halloween Party Ideas??  I found these great posts here….

Halloween party tips and ideas from…. 1. Frog Prince Paperie 2. Stagetecture 3. TLC Family 4. Whats Best For The Nest 5. Wants and Wishes 6. Love To Know Party 7. Clean & Scentsible 8. Living Locurto 9. Lil Sugar 10. Inspired by Family Magazine

You can find more ideas from my Halloween Pinterest board.

Easy DIY My Little Pony Applejack Costume

$

I wanted to share with y’all the Easy DIY My Little Pony Applejack Halloween Costume I made Alice last Halloween. It really was SO easy to make and cost under $10!

DIY My Little Pony Applejack Halloween Costume Collage

Alice is a HUGE My Little Pony fan and Applejack is her favorite pony. She had planned on being Applejack months before Halloween. I wasn’t too impressed with the store bought MLP costumes. They are really just a dress and some boots. I looked online for some ideas on how to create your own MLP costume and I came across the cutest MLP tulle headpiece idea from Snickety Things. Borrowing from her tutorial I created this one!

Here is what I used:

White t-shirt

White shorts

white leggings

foam cowboy hat  (purchased at Michael’s)

1 spool of white tulle.

fabric paint in green and red

sunshine orange and lemon yellow RIT dye

I dyed the tulle and the white shirt, shorts and leggings according to the directions on the package.

IMAG1207a

After the shorts wear dyed orange and dry I painted on the 3 apples which is Applejack’s cutie mark. Using the yellow dyed tulle, I made a puff of bangs and hot glued it to the inside of the front of the foam hat. I then made a puffy mane and ponytail and tied some red yarn around the bottom to create the signature Applejack ponytail and mane. I hot glued the mane to the back of the hat. Then pinned the tail to the waistband of her shorts.

My Little Pony Applejack Costume Tutorial

And VIOLA! Her My Little Pony Applejack costume was complete. It was so easy!!! Alice absolutely LOVES her costume. She still has the hat and still plays dress up with it.

IMAG1279a IMAG1263a IMAG1293a IMAG1251a

Wouldn’t this make for a fun dress up party? It was simple and inexpensive enough to make several ponies and have a My Little Pony dress up party!  I would have to be Rarity since Alice chose a long time ago that she was my favorite! Which pony would you dress up as??

My daughter made a comment yesterday about the Halloween decorations and costumes she saw at our local grocery store. She said, “It’s not even September and there is Halloween stuff out”! It made me remember that us bloggers run on the same “super early” schedule the stores do. So, I sat down and started to think of what I could do for a Halloween post. I realized I have SO MUCH Halloween awesomeness on here already I decided to create a single post highlighting it all. Ya know, easy to find, easy access!

This is a fall rosette wreath I made years ago. I still love it and thought to share it with y’all.  In sharing it I have to share this post from 5 years ago. I was JUST starting out in the decor blog world and I gotta say….I was pretty proud of that little bitty leaf garland we made and our fall front porch display!! It’s so simple and so, well, empty! YIKES!

Look how cute Alice is though? She was just as proud of our little fall porch! 🙂

NOW, I’ve been MIA for quite a while yes…..well THIS happened!
